Kalen is available to work as an expert consultant for writers and producers wishing to incorporate Deaf/signing characters in television & film. She can consult at the story development level and throughout the production & post-production process.

Kalen has on-set experience, having worked as a technical advisor on an episode of CSI:NY, which featured 6 signing characters. Kalen also worked as an ASL Master for Switched at Birth for 4 seasons.

In addition, Kalen taught American Sign Language (ASL) at community colleges in Portland, Oregon, and Los Angeles county.  She designed and taught private ASL classes to writers, producers, publicists, and crew working on shows that incorporate sign language so they could better communicate with Deaf actors.  Kalen is available to teach one-on-one as well as design and teach custom classes to staff working in TV and film.
